RE: CampGround Recomendation for Miami area..Longterm

Check out Broward county parks. You can stay up to 6 months in Markham for sure, probably CB Smith & TY as well.

RE: Wi to FL over Xmas break

There are numerous parks around Orlando. However you may have a problem getting reservations. Check Fl. state parks, Lake Louisa is 20 min's from Disney. Clerbrook Golf & rv resort is a little further but sure to have open spots. Google rv parks near Disney. It can get chilly in central Fl. at anytime. The further south you go the better the chances for warm weather. Key West is a good 500 mile drive from Orlando & park prices can be astronomical. Again check out the state parks

RE: 4th of July at Mount Rushmore

Yes, the firework show is held on the 3rd. If you are stopping only for the fireworks I would suggest Battle Creek campground. They are not fancy, no pool or planned activities, but you can watch the fireworks right from the campground. You can see Washington's head from there too. They do have some full hookups & are 1/3-1/2 the price of Rafter J. If memory serves they are in Keystone.

X-tended stay maintenance

We will be staying at 1 park for 4 months in central Florida. What are the recommended steps to properly maintain our diesel MH & tires? Should we take a monthly road trip or will running the engine suffice? etc. Thanks for your suggestions

RE: Pensacola and New Orleans Areas

There are 2 state parks on the north shore of lake Ponchetrain (please excuse all spelling)Fountainblue in Mandeville is on the site of an old plantation & mill. Riverview in Madisonville has nice paved sites in the back circle right on the river. South of the city is Segnett? Bayou . Did not visit that one, closed after hurricane but has been upgraded & is open now. All are w/e no sewer. Check out La. state park site for more info.

RE: Not to beat a dead horse, but...Resort Membership Question

You can find memberships for pennies on the dollar on the secondary market. I am a TT member & can only speak about them. If you attend one of their free weekends you will have to wait 1 yr, before you can buy a resale. You will also be subjected to some very high pressure & sometimes ethically questionable tactics. Keep searching memberships in this forum & you'll learn alot. If you can make your initial purchase price back in saved camping fees in the first year or two your getting a deal- IMHO

RE: Lazy Days,Seffner,Fl.to close it's doors?

I wasn't sure, I did say it was a rumor, but you just don't know these days! I would think that by the end of Nov. their service dept will be as busy as ever & with lower prices, sales should do OK too.

RE: Following the warm weather

From Eugene, I would meander south thru Ca, then east. Staying south along the Texas coast thru the deep south into Fl. I would loop thru Fl.,down the west coast & up the east with forays into central Fl.. Then around Mardi Gras time (feb.-mar.) I would head back over to New Orleans then back to Houston for the big Rodeo. By then it will be getting warmer & I'd can head back north. That's what I would do! ;-). Looking forward to our next trip out west, we miss Oregon!

RE: Whats wrong with campground water?

Many campgrounds are not in "neighborhoods" & are not hooked into a municipal water supply. Many run from wells. We are fulltimers & move on average every 3 weeks. For us it is not just the safeness of the water it's the difference between water from place to place,& the havoc it can wreck on-let's say-(digestive functions)!, so we use bottled water for cooking & drinking.

RE: RV Park in great need of Management

How about calling the local health dept. to address the sewage odor & trash pick-up, or lack of. Is there a code enforcement office for the town or county? As poorly maintained as you say this park is, you might actually be better off with the cats. They are probably doing a good job keeping the rodent population in check. Take photos & send them to Good Sam. Parks are often notified of upcoming inspections & clean up their act for the short term. I believe most of these steps can be taken anonymously

RE: Afraid of Heights

Sounds like you have a fear of falling. I too get VERY tense when I look down on bridges & narrow mountain roads. I even LEAN my body to the left so as not to put any extra weight on the edge. Of course I know this doesn't work ( I'm not that large! LOL). The north approach to Yosemite was a real eye opener, especially when we encountered a semi coming the opposite way on a curve, we were on the cliff side! Thinking about talking to my Dr. about something for anxiety too! Right now I close my eyes, lean to the opposite side & remind myself to breath!

RE: New to this forum

Welcome to the forum Kat. Can't help you with the covection oven, but I'm sure someone will post the info you need. The people here are very helpful & informative. We have ins. thru National Interstate. We have had to make a couple of claims, lightning strike that took out our inverter, wind storm damage to the awning & water damage from a leak. Each time the claim was paid with very little or no fuss & I would reccommend them. But check around & compare with other company's, you might find one that serves your individual needs better. Again welcome- if you can't find answers to all your questions about Rving on this forum, then your just not asking the right question! LOL!

RE: Cabin near Yosemite?

The 1000trails campground "Yosemite Lakes" also has 4 cabins & 6 garden homes. They close for the winter season, not sure of exact date. Cabins rent for as little as $50. a night, probably more for non members. They are located 1 mile from N. entrance. You can call 209-962-0103 for more information. We stayed there 2 yrs. ago & really enjoyed it.
